The Kuzikus Mapping Project (KMP) is an innovative drone mapping initiative within Namibia's Kuzikus Wildlife Reserve (KWR). Its goal is to develop a monitoring tool for sustainable land use and biodiversity conservation in the semi-arid savanna. The Trinity Pro drone, equipped with a high-resolution Sony RX1 RII camera, efficiently captures aerial data, enabling non-invasive counting and monitoring of endangered megafauna, such as black rhinos. The collected data creates an ecosystem inventory database for the reserve. The database serves as a continually updated digital twin, used for ecosystem management, research, and potential eco-economic opportunities.The Kuzikus Mapping Project, powered by Trinity Pro and advanced AI technologies, marks a significant step in conserving Namibian megafauna and promoting sustainable land use. Overcoming challenges like locating and observing animals non-invasively and operating in harsh environmental conditions, Trinity Pro demonstrated resilience and flawless performance throughout the project, successfully completing mapping efforts.
